Complete Knowledge About How To Use Menstrual Cup

It is a big question for first-timers how to use a menstrual cup and wash. Thus, we are here to answer it for you.

Step 1: Boil And Sterilize It

Before we start using a new menstrual cup it is very important that you boil and sterilize the cup. Continue to boil it in water for 5 to 10 minutes. You should fill a utensil with water so that the cup should not touch the bottom of it. Let it boil and after cleaning your hands take it out as it is now ready to use.

Step 2: How To Insert The Menstrual Cup?

Before finally inserting the cup, sanitize your hands, or use a mild soap to wash your hands.

The Right fold: There are different ways in which you can fold the cup before inserting it into your vagina. The most common fold that lets the cup easily slip in is the C-fold or the punch down fold. Just make sure to keep it folded until it is inserted properly.

Relax while doing it: Do not get stiff while inserting the menstrual cup inside. Loosen up and relax as it will relax your muscles and make the process easy. You can use the most comfortable position to do it- sit, lie down, stand or squat. To make the insertion easier you can use water or a water-based lubricant on the rim of the cup to make the process easy.

Insert it and release Insert the cup with the fold still on. Once it slips inside your vagina remove your fingers to get it unfolded. If it is done the right way you will hear a suction sound that is a signal that it has taken its position in the right manner.
If you are still in doubt you can check it by feeling the base of it, there should not be any fold inside. In case you feel it is still unfolded then get hold of the base of the cup, not
the stem and rotate it so that if there is any fold it opens up. Make sure that the stem of the cup should be completely inside of you and you can cut down the stem if it is popping out to feel comfortable.

Step 3: Go on For 12 Hours

Once it is gone inside and settled down perfectly then you can carry on with your day-to-day activities with it for at least 12 hours before changing it. Apart from that, it also depends upon the flow of blood you experience that is different with different people.
It is advisable to empty it frequently initially, as it may help you to know about your flow and the Use of the Menstrual Cup.

Step 4: Removing The Menstrual Cup

Wash your hands Again before taking it out wash your hands properly to avoid any infection.

Relax yourself Do not tense up as it can make your task difficult. So, first, relax and take a comfortable position. Lie down, stand, squat, or sit as you feel it is easy to take it out.
